Cadre promotions were held on August 23, 2011, in the Middle School Gymnasium. This was the mid-point of the Summer Leadership School, which began August 19, 2011 and will continue through to this Saturday, August 27th.

Let’s face it: starting a new school is exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. Starting a boarding school adds a whole new level to those emotions. So I checked with our clinical counselor, our dorm staff, our commandant, and our director of residential life, and they came up with what I think is some pretty sound advice about how to help calm those condors fluttering around in your stomach:

I surveyed our dorm supervisors, director of residential life, and our commandant and asked them to give their suggestions on what boarding school students should bring to the dorm. Some of these are specific to R-MA, and I’ll try to note them.

Every year or so we survey our parents to determine why they were looking for a private school in the first place. I like playing around with stats (once in a while, mind you, not all the time) so I thought I’d share a few of the top reasons with you.

For today, I just want to focus on middle school’s numbers. We had 72 students enroll at the start of last year, and 28 families responded to the survey, for a 39% response rate.
