The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has expanded the use of 529 Plans.
Starting in 2018, the tax reform bill passed by Congress allows a family to use up to $10,000 in proceeds per student, per year to pay for the cost of tuition and books at a public, private or religious elementary and high school.
Since the plans differ in each state, parents should consult their state's fund and their financial planner regarding the policies and procedures for funding independent school education.
For more information on 529 Plans, view the fact sheet created by The American Federation for Children, EdChoice, and ExcelinEd.
