Second Winchester, VA, Senior Earns Solo Wings
Wilson McGraw, the son of James & Beverley McGraw of Winchester, VA, soloed in a Cessna 172 airplane on May 27, 2010 at Front Royal/Warren County Airport in Virginia, just two days before graduating from Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA) on May 29th. Full Story.

 

R-MA Valedictorian Earns Private Pilot Certification
(May 27, 2010) More than two years ago, on December 20, 2007, Max Ramundo was a sophomore at Randolph-Macon Academy, and he had just completed his first solo flight.  On Saturday, May 22, 2010, only one week before graduating as Randolph-Macon Academy's valedictorian, Max completed the next logical step in the Academy’s flight program: he earned his private pilot certification. Bianca soloed an airplane just days before graduating from high school.

Senior Solos!
(May 27, 2010) Bianca Hamp, the daughter of Anthony and Frida Marcoccio of Winchester, VA, and Dr. Dirk Hamp of Wake Forest, VA, soloed in a Cessna 152 airplane on May 22, 2010 at Front Royal/Warren County Airport in Virginia.  Hamp is a senior at Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA), which has a flight program that is unique at the secondary school level in America. Full Story.

 

R-MA Band and Chorus Perform for Thousands at NRA Convention
(May 27, 2010) The Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA) Band and Chorus performed for a most appreciative audience of over 11,000 people at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC on May 15, 2010.  The two groups, conducted by Ed Richards, performed an hour-long concert, “Tribute to the United States Armed Forces,” as part of the National Rifle Association’s “Celebration of American Values Freedom Experience.” Full Story.

 

Senior from Conyers, GA, Earns Commercial Pilot Certificate
(May 26, 2010) Last year, Josh Norris of Conyers, GA, was one of three Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA) students to earn his private pilot certification.  Of the three, he was the only junior to do so.  This year, on May 19, 2010, Josh became the only flight student in the school’s history to earn his commercial pilot certificate before graduating from the Academy. Josh became the first student pilot at R-MA to earn a commercial certification before graduation.

 

 Whitney was named an Achievement Scholar recipient. 

 R-MA Student Receives National Achievement Scholarship
Whitney Lee, the daughter of Dr. Fredric Lee of South Orange and Anita Jones-Lee of Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been awarded a National Achievement® $2500 Scholarship underwritten by State Farm Companies Foundation.  Whitney is a senior at Randolph-Macon Academy, a military boarding school in Front Royal, Virginia.

 R-MA Cadet Wins State Essay Contest
Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Allyson Doran ’11, daughter of Joe and Mariola Doran of Front Royal, has been named the winner of The Sons of the American Revolution JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training) Award. Full Story.

 

R-MA President Contract Extended
(February 23, 2010) Mr. Joseph F. Silek, Jr., P.C., Chairman of the Randolph-Macon Academy Board of Trustees, has announced that the contract of R-MA President Major General Henry M. Hobgood has been extended to June 30, 2013. Full Story.
