The Air Force JROTC Program in an integral part of the Academy, woven into the daily lives of all students in grades 9-12. It teaches students military protocols and procedures, as well as self-confidence, leadership skills, stress management, and self-discipline. One R-MA alumnus said that R-MA takes good kids and makes them great leaders; the Air Force program is the key component in accomplishing this. In 2009, the Air Force JROTC unit The 91st VA Air Force JROTC Marching Band marches in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City.was recognized as "Distinguished Unit with Merit."

The Flight Program provides students with the opportunity to solo in a Cessna 152, and even obtain their private pilot’s certification. This optional program, which incurs an additional cost, is taught by R-MA faculty members in school-owned aircraft.

The High Flight Program is for students who are interested in pursuing admission to a U.S. military service academy.  This program, which includes a $2,000/year scholarship, has stringent requirements.

The Music and Drama Programs include the Virginia 91st Air Force Junior ROTC Band, which is the pride of R-MA. The band and the rest of the parade unit, including armed and unarmed drill teams and the flag corps, represent R-MA in parades across the country, from New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, to Holland, MI, Indianapolis, IN, and Orlando, FL. The chorus also represents R-MA regionally, and has performed for the Air Force Association’s National Convention.  Both the band and the chorus performed at the National Rifle Association's annual convention in Charlotte, NC in 2010.  The drama program has provided the small town of Front Royal with a touch of a professional theater, as the students and the stage settings bring the stories to life.

The R-MA Speech and Debate Team is one of the best in the Northeast. It was named National Champions in the Catholic Forensics League in 2005, and this powerhouse team continues to dominate the competition year after year.
