Middle School Summer Academic Camp

June 27- July 23, 2010

This fun-filled summer academic camp keeps students' minds sharp over the long summer break, while still allowing them to have a lot of fun!  During this four-week program, day and boarding students improve their confidence, build lasting friendships, and discover joy in learning.  Students spend the morning in up to three educational classes of their choice, exploring areas of interest and/or improving their skills.

Rising sixth through eighth graders may choose three of the following enrichment classes:

• Science Explorer*
• Reading and Writing Workshop
• Advanced Summer Reading and Comprehension
• Math Concepts
• Technology/Web Page Design and Virtual Yearbook
• Korean
• Study Skills
• History-in-Action*

*History-in-Action and Science Explorer each run for two periods; students taking one of these classes can only choose one additional course.

Our teachers engage students with hands-on projects, and weekly field trips to area museums and attractions add to the fun of exploration.

Students participate in a variety of educational and entertainment activities each day:

• Daily Mentoring Sessions help the middle school students learn team building and the value of community service. 
• Community Life Skills guides boarding students through the process of learning to live away from home and with a roommate, and keeping their own room clean.
• Fun activities include swimming, paintball trips, mini golf, trips to amusement parks, bowling, and much, much more. 

Some students choose to go home on the weekends, but for those who remain on campus, an action-packed weekend awaits. On Saturdays, all students go to an amusement park.  On Sundays, they participate in paintball, laser tag, and other actitivites.
