Yellow Jackets Win Tri-match Against Middleburg Academy and Legacy Christian

On Monday, April 18, the Yellow Jacket Varsity Golf team traveled to Bull Run Golf Club to play the Middleburg Academy and Legacy Christian golf teams. The weather was beautiful and the Jackets came out of winter hibernation and posted their best scores of the season. Leading the way for R-MA were Joseph Silek and Joey Monastero with 40s. Jacob Karen shot a 48; Sang Yoon Lee posted his best-ever score of 53, and Ian Mounts shot a 58. The final score was R-MA 128, Middleburg 160, and Legacy only had two golfers who both shot 58s.

The Jackets end a packed five day stretch on a positive note. After suffering a few losses early in the week, R-MA scores 19 against neighboring Massanutten Military Academy as they cruise to a 19-10 win. Jake Branham led the scoring with 8 goals and 3 assist. Peter Blair tallied 5 goals and 5 assists. Will Long added 3 more goals. Darico Dias,Will Thompson, and John Back each added a goal. Goalie Rob Farmer stood tall and collected 8 saves. The Yellow Jacket play again on Tuesday (4/19) against Handley HS at home.

Randolph-Macon Academy won three matches this week making their DAC record 3-1 and 6-1 overall. On Tuesday, April 12, the team traveled to Westfields Golf Club in Clifton, Virginia to play a tri-match against two DAC schools, Trinity Christian and St. Michaels. We were able to defeat both teams 144-152 and 144-213. Leading the way for the Jackets were Jacob Karen (46), Joseph Silek (49), and Joey Monastero (49). Sang Yoon Lee also participated with a 62, Ian Mounts and Victor Tong shot 65s.

The R-MA lacrosse team hosted Fredericksburg Christian on March 18th to open up the 2016 season. The Yellow Jackets grabbed the lead early in the first quarter and never looked back. Jake Branham '16, Peter Blair '16, and Will Long '16 led the offense while the defense was anchored by seniors Alex Jung '16 and Paul Miller '16. Goalie Jacob Gehly '20 only allowed two goals as the Jackets went on to win by a score of 10-2. The team plays again Tuesday, March 22 at home against Berkeley County, WV with 4:30 start time.

On Friday, February 12, the Randolph-Macon Academy Middle School Boys' Basketball team completed their season with a perfect 14-0 record. The team had previously won the Valley Middle School Regular Season Championship with a 6-0 record. The young Yellow Jackets earned a bye in the first round of the VMSC Tournament by being number one seed.
