International Students
Randolph-Macon Academy's international students come here for a variety of reasons, including the Academy's structured and disciplined program, and its close proximity to Washington, D.C. The fact that some of R-MA's international students have gone on to top colleges and universities is another reason.
International students come to this military boarding school from a dozen different countries each year. Over the last several years, some of nations represented at R-MA have been:
- Burundi
- Canada
- China
- Ecuador
- Egypt
- Italy
- Japan
- Mexico
- Pakistan
- Russia
- Saudi Arabia
- South Korea
- United Arab Emirates
- United Kingdom
- Vietnam
Students from all over the world find success at R-MA. Some of our highest achieving students have been those for whom English is not their first language. In recent years, our international students have gone on to attend colleges such as:
- Johns Hopkins University
- Cornell University
- Emory University
- University of California at Berkeley
- Purdue University
- New York University
- Arizona State University
- Penn State
- West Point
Students who wish to attend R-MA must demonstrate some proficiency in English by scoring a 40 or higher on the SLEP test. Those who do not meet this level may be required to attend the English as a Second Language (ESL). For more information on the admission procedures for international students, click here.
