Annual Fund Executive Council (AFEC)
Members of the Annual Fund Executive Council serve as important ambassadors for Randolph-Macon Academy. This dedicated group of alumni, parents and Academy friends fully appreciate the value of the education R-MA provides and put their time, enthusiasm and resources to work to make for a successful Annual Fund drive.
After a training session and coaching by the Development Staff, these volunteers make a number of calls to people just like you. And the conversation is about more than just asking for an Annual Fund gift; it is about making a personal connection with R-MA. They record any changes in biographical information and give a general overview of what’s happening on campus.
Why is the Annual Fund important? Tuition alone does not cover the cost of running the school.
Annual Fund gifts are put to use right away, and the entire Fund is spent each year. The great value of Annual Fund gifts lie in their immediacy and their flexibility. Because these gifts are unrestricted, they support operating expenses in all areas and provide approximately 5.5 percent of the Academy’s annual operating budget. As a result, Annual Fund gifts play a critical role in essentials such as keeping tuition increases in check and providing competitive faculty salaries.
I truly benefited from the guidance and direction that R-MA gave me. Many on the Council personally have shared similar stories.
Scant few of us have the ability to fund new buildings or be major contributors to capital campaigns; however, most of us can set aside some money for the Annual Fund. Every single dollar contributed to the Annual Fund has a real and positive impact on the day-to-day running of the school.
The values-based, academically-challenging and structured environment at R-MA has helped scores of graduates reach their potential. If you are interested in learning more about the Annual Fund Executive Council, please contact the Development Office at (540) 636-5485.
